  1. Harry Knutson - Executive Chairman

    Mr. Knutson is the founder of Nova Bancorp Group and has been responsible for the growth and performance of the firm since its inception in 1982. Mr. Knutson holds a bachelor of arts (honours) degree in economics and a bachelor of commerce (honours) degree from Simon Fraser University. He also holds a Canadian chartered director designation from the Directors College of McMaster University.

  2. Brad Gabel - Executive Director

    Mr. Gabel brings significant experience to the Company in acquisition and divesture transactions – a primary focus for Canamax as the Company continues to evaluate further acquisitions of junior oil and gas companies in western Canada. He also brings significant experience in dealing with the capital markets and managing corporate growth.

    Mr. Gabel, also a director of Canamax, has successfully started, grown and sold multiple public companies in the oilfield sector over the past 18 years. Most recently, he was President of Pure Energy Services Ltd from June, 2009 until its acquisition in October 2012 by Houston-based FMC Technologies Ltd for CDN $300 million. Mr. Gabel has assisted with the transition effort until now. Prior to Pure, Mr. Gabel was the President and CEO of Canadian Sub-Surface Energy Services which he co-founded in 1996. Canadian Sub-Surface went public in 2006 and was subsequently acquired by Pure in 2009.

  3. Roy Aneed – Director

    Prior to co-founding Edge, Mr. Aneed was a Managing Director at Natural Gas Partners (“NGP”). During his eight years at NGP, Mr. Aneed sourced, structured, executed, monitored and exited investments throughout North America. Mr. Aneed served on NGP’s Investment Committee, Investment Process Committee, Monitoring Committee, Evaluations & Strategy Committee and most recently served as the Co-Head of NGP’s Business Development Committee, which oversees NGP’s deal sourcing efforts. Mr. Aneed most recently focused on deal sourcing in the Mid-Continent and Rocky Mountain regions and had earlier experience focusing on deal sourcing in Canada. Mr. Aneed represented NGP on over 20 private boards and currently serves on the board of Triangle Petroleum Corporation (NYSE MKT: TPLM). Mr. Aneed has been a featured speaker at industry conferences in Calgary, Denver and Tulsa and has been highlighted in several industry publications. Prior to joining NGP, Mr. Aneed spent four years at Graham Partners, a private equity firm focused on middle-market industrial investments. Mr. Aneed started his career in the investment banking division of Citigroup in New York. Mr. Aneed received a B.S. in Economics, with concentrations in both Finance and Management, in 2001 from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

  4. Oscar Pate – Director

    Prior to co-founding Edge, Mr. Pate was a Senior Associate at NGP. During his five years at NGP, Mr. Pate sourced, structured, executed, monitored and exited investments throughout North America. Mr. Pate served on NGP’s Monitoring Committee and focused on deal sourcing in the Mid-Continent, Permian and Rocky Mountain regions. Mr. Pate also represented NGP on numerous private boards. Prior to joining NGP, Mr. Pate worked in the investment banking division of Barclays Capital in Houston, where he focused on financing and merger and acquisition transactions in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Pate received a B.A. in Plan II and a B.B.A. in Finance with highest honors in 2007 from The University of Texas at Austin. He received an M.B.A. in 2014 from Stanford University, where he graduated as an Arjay Miller Scholar.

  5. Jesse Bomer – Director

    Prior to co-founding Edge, Mr. Bomer was General Counsel at NGP. During his five years at NGP, Mr. Bomer led the structuring and execution of the substantial majority of NGP’s transactions. Mr. Bomer also led NGP’s first-time SEC registration and oversaw NGP’s compliance function. In addition to his legal responsibilities, Mr. Bomer also had an active role sourcing investments in the Mid-Continent region and monitoring portfolio companies throughout North America. Mr. Bomer served on NGP’s Investment Process Committee and Monitoring Committee and represented NGP on numerous private boards. Prior to joining NGP, Mr. Bomer was a Senior Associate in the Corporate and Securities group of Thompson & Knight LLP in Dallas, where his practice focused on the representation of energy private equity funds in all phases of their formation and operation. Prior to joining Thompson & Knight LLP, Mr. Bomer was a corporate associate at Johnson & Jones, P.C. in Tulsa, OK. Mr. Bomer received a B.S. in Finance, magna cum laude, in 2000 and a J.D., with highest honors, in 2003 from the University of Tulsa.

  6. Mitch Putnam - Director

    Mr. Putnam is one of the Founding Partners of 32 Degrees Capital. He focuses on making investments in early stage oil and gas companies and is primarily responsible for deal sourcing, technical and geological due diligence and portfolio management. Prior to founding the Firm, Mr. Putnam was the founder and Director of Glacier Energy Ltd.; the founder, Director and Vice President Exploration of Ice Energy Ltd.; the founder,Vice President Exploration of Avalanche Energy Ltd.; and Vice President Exploration of Colony Energy Ltd. All of the companies Mr. Putnam founded exhibited significant growth and generated superior returns for its investors. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Powder Mountain Energy Ltd.(Chairman), Alder Ridge Resources Ltd., Sitka Exploration Ltd. and HPC Energy Services.

  7. John Mercury – Director

    Mr. Mercury is the leader of Bennett Jones private equity practice group and lead director of the firm’s partnership board, concentrates on private investments and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and PIPE transactions, primarily on behalf of Canadian and U.S. financial sponsors. John also spends time advising general partners and investors in the formation of private equity funds and other investment vehicles. John’s clients span a variety of industries, including energy, financial services, consumer products and manufacturing.
